Goggles of Detection
Aura faint divination; CL 3rd
Slot eyes; Price 2,500 gp; Weight —
The lenses of these goggles are made of enchanted polished quartz crystal. When placed over the eyes of the wearer, the lenses enable her to see much better than normal at distances of 10 foot or less, granting her a +5 competence bonus on Perception checks when investigating an area.
Additionally, once per day, the goggles may be activated with a command word, allowing the wearer to detect secret doors, compartments, caches, and so forth within a 60 ft. cone. Only passages, doors, or openings that have been specifically constructed to escape detection are detected in this way. The amount of information revealed depends on how long the wearer studies a particular area or subject.
1st Round: Presence or absence of secret doors.
2nd Round: Number of secret doors and the location of each. If an aura is outside your line of sight, then you discern its direction but not its exact location.
Each Additional Round: The mechanism or trigger for one particular secret portal closely examined by you. Each round, you can turn to detect secret doors in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it.
This ability requires concentration and lasts no longer than 3 minutes per day. The wearer may split this duration into 1 minute segments.
Both lenses must be worn for the magic to be effective.
